What temperature should a PETG bottle be?

PETG plastic bottles can safely withstand relatively high temperatures compared to other plastic bottle materials.

Some guidelines on temperature limits for PETG bottles:

– Boiling water – PETG bottles can tolerate boiling water temperatures up to 212°F (100°C). This allows for pouring boiling water into PET bottles or using hot water to sanitize them.

– Dishwasher safe – PETG can generally handle dishwasher cycles, provided the dishwasher temperature does not exceed ~150°F (65°C). Higher dishwasher temperatures over time may eventually degrade PETG.

– Microwave safe – PETG bottles are usually microwave safe for short-term heating of contents, but the plastic can start warping over 200°F (93°C). Avoid microwaving PETG bottles empty.

– Freezer safe – PETG retains its properties at freezing temperatures so it can safely go from the freezer to boiling water.

– Ambient use – For regular drinking use, PETG bottle temperatures should stay in a safe range of 32–120°F (0–50°C). Avoid leaving them in hot cars or direct sunlight.- Deformation temperature

– PETG begins softening around 150–160°F (66–71°C). Above 175°F (79°C) it can slowly deform under weight. This gives a guide to maximum use temperatures.

In summary, PETG has a wide safe temperature range spanning from freezing to boiling. But it is best to avoid sustained use or exposure over 150°F (65°C) to maintain bottle integrity and prevent warping over time. Check the manufacturer’s specs for any specific guidance.
